Lebkuchen
Lebkuchen is a honey flavoured Ginger bread man from Germany and Austria , Enjoy.
Ingredients
50g unsalted butter
100g Golden Caster Sugar
100g Runny Honey
225g Plain hour plus extra when rolling
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of Soda
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 and Egg
Writing icing for decoration
Method
1) Gently heat the butter , sugar and honey together in a saucepan stirring until melted and smooth.
2) Take off the heat and add the dry ingredients and stir until crumbly then add the egg and work to a dough, add more flour if the dough is sticky.If time allows wrap the dough in cling film and place in fridge over night.
3) on a floured surface roll out the dough until its 2mm thick and cut out your desired shapes and bake at 180 oc for 12 minutes on a baking try with parchment paper.. To hang on tree add a hole in the shape before baking.
4) When the biscuits have cooled decorate how you wish.
